CONDEGA HALF DAY TRIP

In the rural community of Ducuale Grande a couple of miles from Condega, we visit a women´s cooperative of traditional pottery where only the rich natural colors of burned clay are used in designs which reflect the Chorotegan roots of the artisans. You can purchase pieces directly from the cooperative and watch the women at work.

In the Airplane Park, you can see one of Somoza’s spy planes which was shot down by revolutionaries in 1979. The lookout at the Airplane Park offers fantastic views of the town.

We then head to the Julio Cesar Salgado Archaeological Museum which is packed with ceramic bowls, studded incense burners, and stone tools dating back to AD 300.

In the Culture Center we visit a group of local artists at work.
